
Adam Lauring, MD, PhD

Dr. Adam Lauring is a specialist in the management and treatment of infectious diseases and joined our practice this year after 3 years of experience caring for HIV positive patients at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and has completed his clinical training in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Lauring divides his time between patient care and basic biomedical research at UCSF. In the laboratory, he studies how HIV and other viruses evolve resistance to antiviral drugs and vaccines.
Lauring received his medical degree and a doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UCSF in 2004 and served as Chief Medical Resident prior to his Fellowship in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Lauring is a member of the Molecular Medicine Program at UCSF and has received a number of grants and awards for his research.
