Malcolm D. John, MD, MPH Director, 360 Director, Men of Color Program
John's research addresses molecular and immunologic components of diseases associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV) in HIV-infected patients, particularly among African Americans. He also studies differences in HIV care, treatment and outcomes among African Americans. A growing focus is on HIV and Aging, including evaluating differences among the aging HIV+ African American. Investigations will look at the interaction of duration of HIV infection, long-tern effects of antiretrovirals and aging itself on HIV infected individuals. John earned a medical degree at Harvard University and a graduate degree in public health at the University of California at Berkeley. He completed an infectious disease fellowship at UCSF, where he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Faculty Development Award.
