The Second Annual Autumn Gala 2006
"Wings of Hope"

November 16, 2006

A letter from the Director:

Dear Friends of PHP-UCSF,

The 2nd Annual Autumn Gala benefiting The PositiveHealth Practice at UCSF (PHP-UCSF) was a great success. The fundraiser was held to celebrate the end of our 21st year of service, our accomplishments and partnerships, and the work done in our community including presentation of our annual community service awards. This years recipients were Perry Lang & The Black Coalition on AIDS (top left) and Milton Estes, MD of the Forensic AIDS Project (top right.)

PHP-UCSF was pleased to have the event hosted by the witty CBS 5 "Eye On The Bay" correspondent Liam Mayclem. ABC7 news co-anchor Cheryl Jennings was also a presenter and graciously greeted guests at the door offering her thanks for their support of our event.

Evenings Highlights

A special announcement at the evening's event was the unveiling of our new identity and name change: "360: The Positive Care Center at UCSF. The change was implemented to meet the growing needs and changing objectives of the Practice as we move forward with our mission to provide the best care and support for our patients. 360 reflects the degrees in a circle – the full circle of care – to highlight our emphasis on comprehensive services for those living with HIV/AIDS. The multicolored quadrants of the logo represent the four areas of focus in our Practice: Clinical Care, Teaching, Research and Community Outreach & Partnerships.

Also during the evening, vignettes from three patients of PHP-UCSF were presented on DVD to highlight a range of issues we address in working with those living with HIV/AIDS.

Proceeds from the 2006 Autumn Gala will help provide expanded services in the face of decreasing public funding. Proceeds will also support expansion of our subspecialty activities such as treatment adherence program, social services program, nutrition, patient support amenities, and more.

For more information on the evening's events and those individuals and companies that we would like to thank, please download the program in PDF format.

I thank you for supporting this very important event.

Sincerely,

Malcolm John, MD, MPH
